In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut and the Embassy of Germany, trend setting Pattaya hotel dusitD2 baraquda pattaya is hosting the first rooftop film festival in South East Asia.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany, the Pattaya Rooftop Film Fest 2012 is screening renowned German films in its rooftop lounge during February and March 2012. The Film Festival will be South East Asia's first rooftop al fresco style movie experience and aims to elevate the image of Pattaya City beyond its long-held reputation as one of Asia's nightlife destinations.

The festival is poised to become a highlight for cinema lovers in South Eastern Thailand and also marks the growing popularity of roof top cinemas along with rooftop leisure in congested urban areas.

Pattaya Mayor Ittiphol Khunpuem explains "we pride ourselves as one of the most happening and creative cities in Thailand and this event promises to be a 'one of a kind' that will surely offer a huge uplifting experience to all visitors.

"This event will not only help uplift the image of Pattaya in terms of tourism, but it also benefits the movie industry in the eastern seaboard zone."
dusitD2 baraquda pattaya General Manager Micahel Ganster adds "we look forward to seeing Pattaya as another well recognised film destination for those who have creative minds.

"Our rooftop Sunset lounge is a perfect venue for a one-of-a-kind movie experience not just because it's trendy and beautiful, but the venue itself also offers a sense of exclusivity. You can be ensured that this is going to be an outdoor movie experience to remember.

Goethe-Institut Director Dr. Norbert Spitz concluded "the cinematographic language is a universal language. Watching films from around the world helps us to understand the foreign and to discover the familiar in the foreign. With this project we show that the cultural sector and the private sector together can achieve something that would be much harder to achieve for any of the two alone."

The Pattaya Rooftop Film Festival started on Friday 3rd February and runs until Friday 2nd March 2012 on every Friday night.

These is no admission fee, guests can simply enjoy selection of delightful drink packages available on each night.
