JLL advises of role in Funlab’s North American expansion

JLL advises of role in Funlab’s North American expansion
December 9, 2023

USA-based commercial real estate and investment management brokerage JLL has shared its experience in providing design, architecture and multi-site project management services for ‘leisure-tainment’ brand Funlab’s first-ever Holey Moley locations in the USA.

In opening centre its first USA location in Denver, Colorado and upcoming locations in cities of San Francisco, California and Houston and Austin in Texas, JLL has advised of how its Project and Development Services (PDS) group has helped Holey Moley in taking the familiar and beloved mini golf concept and transforming it.

Ken Demske, JLL’s National Director, Multi-Site, Project and Development Services, explained “JLL’s PDS group helped bring Funlab’s vision to life for their first-ever US locations.

“We brought together leaders spanning across multiple areas of expertise under one team that provides an end-to-end approach, bringing the best solutions to our client.

“The spaces are an immersive world of fun with delicious bites, specialty cocktails and real-life connections. The concepts will feature super-vibey, multi-sensory experiences and new, iconic pop-culture themes woven into the golf holes.”

The Denver location includes three nine-hole courses that feature holes inspired by popular themes from pop culture infused with nostalgia and childhood memories.

The Houston location includes 27 holes across three courses, the Austin mini golf location will also feature 27 holes and a large outdoor space, and the San Francisco location will have 18 holes - all three are planned for an early 2024 opening.

Holey Moley Austin will be the first originally designed Holey Moley in the USA, whereas the newly opened Denver and upcoming San Francisco locations are adaptations of popular existing Urban Putt locations, which Funlab recently acquired.

Marta Smurzynska, JLL’s Creative Director - Design Solutions, noted “through Funlab’s vision we were able to use our design to architecture implementation, creating an experiential space with iconic pop-culture references that truly transforms the space into a world of fun.

“We focused on the brand’s culture, bringing the customer experience to life.”

The four locations take a distinctly American twist to Holey Moley’s offering that it has delivered in Australia since 2016.

Bringing friends and families together for informal mini golf, the concepts will feature multi-sensory experiences and pop-culture themes woven into the golf holes. With a variety of options for dining, beverages, functions and events - all under one roof - Holey Moley trades day into night to cater to all guests at any time from family outings during the day to corporate happy hours and more.

Funlab Chief Executive, Michael Schreiber stated “there’s something universal about having a good time in a setting designed expressly for that and nothing else.

“What makes these locations unique is the way we take familiar, cherished concepts from the world around us and transform them into something surprising. It’s the immersion of the worlds we create that turns the ordinary into extraordinary and gives a chance for guests to compete, while having a whole lot of fun.”

JLL Project and Development Services is a leader in the development, design, construction and branding of commercial real estate projects for the world’s most prominent corporations, educational institutions, public jurisdictions, healthcare organisations, industrial facilities, retailers, hotels, sports facilities and real estate owners.
