Ungerboeck Asia-Pacific Conference confirms importance of digital engagement

Ungerboeck Asia-Pacific Conference confirms importance of digital engagement
June 26, 2018

Delegates at the recent the Ungerboeck Asia-Pacific Conference have learned of how digital engagement is central to improving interactions with stakeholders, as well as enhancing the customer experience.

Hosting many of the region’s leading venues, event organisers and suppliers at the Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach, the Ungerboeck Asia-Pacific Conference was attended by representatives from prominent stadia and arena, convention and exhibition centres, caterers, performing arts centres, exhibition suppliers, associations, councils and universities, as well as a range of boutique and multi-purpose venues.

The conference theme, Discover Connect Transform, encouraged participants to discover Ungerboeck’s innovative new event technology solutions, connect with their peers to discuss industry trends and challenges, and learn new concepts to help them transform their organisations in an increasingly digital environment.

Audiences heard from an impressive line-up of guest speakers representing ICC Sydney, Melbourne and Olympic Parks, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA), the New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC), PERTHEXPO and Regional Facilities Auckland (RFA).

Sessions previewed Ungerboeck’s innovative, industry-leading platforms like the Event Planner and Suite Management Portals, developed in conjunction with Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre and Melbourne and Olympic Parks, and provided insights into customer engagement, digital interaction and platform integration, as well a range of diverse and effective change management strategies.

In a showcase of Melbourne and Olympic Parks’ ground-breaking Suite Management Portal, Lara Burnes, General Manager – Premier Events & Experiences at Melbourne and Olympic Parks, stressed the importance of client engagement throughout the scoping and development process to ensure any proposed digital solution addressed clients’ needs and pain-points.

Burnes advised “the important thing to note is that we’re not just developing this solution based on our own experience.

“We engaged with our clients in initial discussions at their offices and asked ‘if we were to build something, what do you want and what would that look like for you?’

“It’s great for us to create a solution for the organisation but if it’s not going to work for the end-user and the people that we’re trying to build it for, then there’s no point creating it.”

Louise Gardiner, General Manager Information Services at RFA, commented on the important role Ungerboeck’s annual conference plays for the council organisation, responsible for enriching cultural experiences and recreation across Auckland, adding “RFA has made a significant investment in Ungerboeck. We use it across our six operating divisions and we use it end-to-end from financials right through to operational delivery.

“(The Ungerboeck Conference) gives us a chance to meet with colleagues and our networks and industries across Australasia, to share knowledge and experience.”

Ungerboeck Asia-Pacific Managing Director, Fred Lazzerini celebrated the calibre of the presentations, as well as the attention and active participation of delegates, as pivotal to the event’s overwhelming success.

Lazzerini concluded “the presentations from ICC Sydney, Melbourne and Olympic Parks, MCA, NZICC, PERTHEXPO and RFA demonstrate how organisations are now embracing digital transformation as a key part of their business strategy, and the sentiment was supported by the packed audiences who were keen to elicit even more detail from each speaker on the subject.

“This event is aimed at allowing clients to drive innovation and growth across their organisations and the active engagement and feedback from the delegates that we witnessed again this year are definitely the key ingredients to its success.”
