Tokyo’s latest attraction to brighten the nightlife ‘TOKYO Night & Light’ – has gone down in the Guinness World Records™ as the ‘largest architectural projection-mapped display (permanent)’ (Projection area: 13,904.956 square metres).

‘Tokyo Night & Light" is a projection mapping display which uses light and sound as an expression of multi-coloured art, and was unveiled at an opening event on 25th February, with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, one of Tokyo's main landmarks, as its canvas. Governor Yuriko Koike gave a speech at the event on behalf of the organisers.

The event was attended by 1,100 audience members who were selected in a draw from thousands of applicants.

The projection mapping display exhibited many different light and sound effects, accompanied by a live performance from the artist, Aimer who performed two of her most popular songs ‘Zankyosanka’ and ‘800’.

Governor Koike explained the purpose behind the project noting "we hope that art combined with Japanese projection mapping technology will make this into a new tourist attraction.”
