Tokyo DisneySea counts down to opening of new Fantasy Springs area

Tokyo DisneySea has announced that its Fantasy Springs expansion will open on 6th June next year.

Park operator Oriental Land Company advised that the eighth section of Tokyo DisneySea, being built at a cost of approximately ¥320 billion (US$21.5 billion), will re-create the worlds of Disney movies including ‘Frozen’, ‘Tangled’ and ‘Peter Pan’.

The massive investment also includes new F&B and retail areas as well as the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel.

To enter the new area and use its attractions, visitors will need to obtain - in addition to their DisneySea admission tickets - a free Standby Pass or premium Disney Premier Access, which allow access to specific attractions at designated times.

In Rapunzel’s Forest, guests will see the tower where Rapunzel has lived since she was a child and take a trip on the Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival boat ride. Also in the Tangled-themed area is the Snuggly Duckling restaurant.

At Frozen Kingdom, set after the events of the 2013 film Frozen, visitors will experience the kingdom of Arendelle and the Anna and Elsa’s Frozen Journey attraction. This area also offers the Royal Banquet of Arendelle restaurant within Arendelle Castle, and Oaken’s OK Foods.

In Peter Pan’s Never Land, Captain Hook’s pirate ship and the iconic Skull Rock will feature, along with Peter Pan’s Never Land Adventure attraction and the Fairy Tinker Bell’s Busy Buggies attraction in Pixie Hollow. Guests will be able to dine in the Lookout Cookout restaurant.

The new hotel is the sixth Disney hotel in Japan. It includes a gift shop and three dining outlets - the Fantasy Springs Restaurant, Grand Paradis Lounge and La Libellule.

Earlier this year, Oriental Land Company’s new Chairman and Chief Executive Yumiko Takano revealed plans to expand Tokyo Disney Resort further.

Opened in 2001, Tokyo DisneySea is Japan's Second Disney resort.

Operated and ownder by the Oriental Land Company, which licenses intellectual property from The Walt Disney Company, in 2022 it hosted 10.1 million visitors, making it the eighth-most visited theme park in the world and the third-most visited in Japan.
