The Fit Club rating system launches during Dubai fitness and wellness expo
November 29, 2023

Following successful launches in New York, London, Singapore and Sydney, The Fit Guide has marked its arrival in the Middle East, launching during the fitness and wellness expo Dubai Active which was held on 24th-26th November 2023 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The Guide awards the world’s very best fitness clubs and studios four- and five-star ratings, with special mentions given to clubs that have been ‘endorsed’ and ‘rated’.

Through an online portal, each club has private access to a breakdown of their results across each of our five categories. Clubs also have the option to access a detailed, full report highlighting all standards and observations - an essential tool for recognizing excellence and identifying areas for improvement.

The Guide has set the bar high for the industry, with around 5% of clubs visited achieving The Fit Guide 5-Star Award, the highest accolade.

Each featured club in TFG Dubai has been visited anonymously by highly-trained, incognito “experience evaluators”, using a process that is unbiased and independent.

Out of the fifty clubs originally selected for inclusion in Dubai, only three achieved The Fit Guide 5-Star Award, its highest accolade and a testament to an exceptional, world-class fitness experience. These industry-leading clubs were Chalk Training Ground - The Palm Jumeirah, Storm Cycling - Mirdif and The Platform Studios - DIFC.

An additional 21 clubs have been acknowledged for their excellence, earning The Fit Guide 4-Star Award. The Fit Guide also highlights leading clubs in the city that have received special mentions as "Recommended."

TFG was founded by fitness industry veteran Jack Thomas and hospitality expert Matt Lavender, both renowned figures in their respective industries with over 25 years of combined experience.

Jack Thomas, co-founder of TFG and host of the Fitness Business Asia podcast, shared his excitement about the Dubai launch noting “Dubai is undoubtedly the fitness capital of the Middle East and where a lot of innovation happens in the region, so we’re delighted to have a presence here.

"After launching in five cities, we now have a lot of interesting data. Dubai did great overall, scoring above average in some areas such as reception services, but behind in other areas such as our Digital and Technology section. We look forward to sharing this data to help the industry reflect and improve.”

At the Dubai Active launch, other clubs were recognised for their excellence in the five evaluation categories, such as 1Rebel DIFC which was awarded five stars for Facilities and Public Areas, Level Up Pilates for exceptional pre- and post-class service and CRANK for its commitment to the digital and technology side of the experience.

Matt Lavender, co-founder of TFG and Chief Executive of Enlites added “Dubai is a younger and less mature fitness market than, say, New York or London, so it was great to see the city score so well and show it’s up there with the best in the industry.”

“Announcing our award winners and talking through the data at Dubai Active in front of an audience of 300 of the region’s CEOs and executives was quite special, and certainly started a lot of positive conversations around how the industry can improve.

“Dubai Active Industry was an absolutely incredible event.

“Met so many inspirational industry leaders and it was an honour for The Fit Guide to share a stage with such incredible brands as Myzone® Gymshark and Active IQ, to name but a few.”
