Sydney Showground to be first Australian venue to host multi-city contemporary Chinese and arts festival

Live Nation and Twenty Eight Group have announced the CCURRENTT World Tour will be held at Sydney Showground on 26th November – making it the first Australian venue to host a multi-city contemporary Chinese music and arts festival.

Taking place in London, Los Angeles and Sydney in October and November this year, CCURRENTT will transcend borders to unite music fans across the globe over a dynamic showcase of China’s best acts from its vibrant and energetic music and arts community.

The brainchild of Jim Wong, Managing Director of Twenty Eight Group and Live Nation Electronic Asia, the festival’s first stop will be to London’s OVO Arena Wembley, before it heads to Los Angeles’ The Torch and wraps up at Sydney Showground.

Commenting on the festivals, Wong shared “CCURRENTT is a chance for Chinese-music fans to immerse themselves in China’s trending music scene abroad in a world-first event spanning both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres. As the global leader in live entertainment, no one is better positioned than Live Nation to drive the growth of Asian artists both domestically and on global stages.”

The Chinese music scene is rapidly expanding across the world, and CCURRENTT is an opportunity for global fans to connect with some of China’s most talented artists, including headliners Jolin Tsai, BEAUZ, Digi Ghetto (Mac Ova Seas, Mula Sakee, Thomeboydontkill), DXX, GALI, and The Life Journey.

No stranger to hosting big international guests, Sydney Showground welcomed Mandopop artist Jay Chou to Australia earlier this year as part of his Carnival World Tour.

Darryl Jeffrey, General Manager of Sydney Showground said the venue is honoured to be chosen as the only Australian location and enthused “Sydney Showground is thrilled to host this exciting new festival and to work alongside Live Nation and Twenty Eight Group to bring contemporary Chinese musicians to Sydney.

“As a venue, we have continued to prove our unique ability to deliver world-class, dynamic events like the CCURRENNT World Tour, and we look forward to doing just that in November as we put Australia on the global stage for this brand-new international tour.”
