Middle East bowling centres to double by 2012?
November 3, 2010

Following the recent inauguration of the 12-lane Switch Batutta Mall bowling centre in Dubai, Switch Middle East has announced that it is poised to open a total of 10 branded bowling centres in the region.

The new 12-lane Switch Batutta Mall bowling centre, which features Switch Pininfarina-designed equipment, complemented by the latest sound and light technology, has created the most modern and unique bowling facility in the UAE. In addition to the 12-lane Switch Bowling equipment, the Switch Batutta Mall also features private karaoke rooms, an Internet cyber corner, a billiards area, a coffee shop, a state-of-the-art lounge area plus an outdoor coffee and shisha garden.

Switch Middle East, a division of the Italian sport, entertainment and bowling company, has revealed that it expects recreational bowling centres in the Middle East to double by 2012, as the region continues to witness widespread development of family entertainment centres, theme parks and other lifestyle and recreation projects. Switch Middle East noted that the excellent growth prospects for bowling equipment have been fuelled by the growing interest of shopping malls in the region to develop state-of-the-art bowling facilities to expand their indoor family entertainment offerings and attract more visitors.

Ahmed El Komy, President of Switch Middle East explains "being an indoor activity, bowling certainly has great potential to grow not just as a popular recreational activity in the Middle East, but also as a major source of sporting glory.

"With the growing number of state-of-the-art bowling facilities being built all over the region, it is now much easier to develop and discover high-potential young Arab talents, who could excel internationally and help raise the stature of the Middle East in the world of sports. In this regard, Switch Middle East is pleased to support the growth of bowling as a major sport in the region by offering the state-of-the-art equipment in all our bowling facilities.

"It is also our desire to offer more than just an enjoyable bowling experience to our guests as we are incorporating an exciting range of leisure amenities in all Switch Middle East bowling centres. The unique concept of our bowling centres has proved hugely successfully with the excellent customer response we received at the recently inaugurated Switch Batutta Mall. We are now eagerly looking forward to unveil our next projects in the Middle East, as the region is fast becoming the next key growth market for the bowling equipment industry."
