Dates confirmed for 2022 Southeast Asian Games

The Vietnam Olympic Committee has advised that the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Hanoi will take place from 12th to 23rd May 2022 next year.
Rescheduled from this year, Vietnamese authorities had reportedly been threatened with having the Games taken away if they failed to fix dates for the multi-sport tournament
According to ChannelNewsAsia, Hanoi has allocated a budget of $69 million for the Games which is expected to attract close to 20,000 participants including 7,000 athletes from the 11 countries of the region.
Vietnam first hosted the SEA Games in 2003 in December with temperatures going to as low as 11 degrees in the evening.
By contract, May temperatures in Hanoi can reach an average of 34 degrees.
The biannual multi-sport event involves participants from the current 11 countries of Southeast Asia under regulation of the Southeast Asian Games Federation with supervision by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia.
