Australian Grand Prix to open 2025 Formula 1 season
The Rolex Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne will once again feature as the season opening round of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship with the sport’s global governing body having released its 2025 calendar.
With 24 rounds once again making up the season, the Melbourne race will begin the F1 campaign on 16th March, with a back-to-back scheduled with China on 23rd March.
There will then be a two-week gap before the season resumes at Suzuka for the Japanese GP on 6th April, which will continue to have the spring date that it shifted to this year.
Bahrain (13th April) and Saudi Arabia (20th April) will then follow as back-to-backs before a short gap to the Miami Grand Prix on 4th May.
F1’s European season will then kick off 18th May, for the start of a triple header that include Monaco (25th May) and Spain (1st June).
Melbourne's return to the first round for the first time since 2019 comes as a result of the Bahrain Grand Prix and Saudi Arabian Grand Prix being moved to April due to Ramadan being in March.
The final run of races will feature two triple headers in USA, Mexico and Brazil, before Las Vegas, Qatar and Abu Dhabi bring the 2025 season to a close on 7th December.
