FPA, the international sporting platform dedicated to the promotion of the discipline of fencing has announced the start of the 2023 World Fencing Events with the opening night at the Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort and Spa on Saturday 29th April.

The opening event will mark the first milestone of the 2023 program, which will see this innovative format tailored and deployed across a total of six international locations.

Signing a five-year long partnership with Fencing Singapore to host the event, Francesco Rossi, Chief Executive of FPG (Fencing Professionals Group, part of FPG Holding), advised “the future of Fencing has found an important and ambitious testing ground.

“The fencing world requires up-to-date ideas to become the next sensation in the world of elite sports, with widespread media coverage. This partnership is the first step in a project we strongly believe in, and by joining forces we are confident we can make a significant impact in the industry.

“FPA intends to seize this opportunity and expand its market by starting from such a fundamental hub as that of Singapore”.

The Singapore event will be an exclusive gathering of international champions, fencing enthusiasts, corporate leaders, and professionals at all levels where the guests can build meaningful connections, discover the world of fencing through the eyes of the fencers and get to know FPA’s disruptive vision in the form of an exclusive event.

Athletes will be competing for an exclusive hyperwatch with a value of US$70,.000 provided by the Swiss watchmaker RO-NI, Premium Partner of the FPA Word Fencing Events.

RO-NI has designed and exclusively produced for this FPA Prologue in Singapore a one-piece hyperwatch which is the result of a long tradition of Swiss craftsmanship and a set of values such as speed, precision, elegance, passion, and innovation that FPA World Fencing Events shares with RO-NI.

The evening will start at 7pm with the AllStars segment, which will be broken down into three categories: the next generation of fencers (nextgen), senior athletes, and the champions. Both the nextgen and the senior segment will bring under the spotlight four high-performance professionals, competing in mixed male and female duets for first place.

The Champions segment will be dedicated to the top-tier level of fencing and will close the evening with a memorable finale consisting of a one-to-one battle between a Singaporean high-performance athlete and the double World Champion Paolo Pizzo.

The purpose of this competition structure is not only to provide a memorable experience to the guests but also to showcase Fencing’s unique peculiarities, such as its being a universal language, capable of connecting the two sides of the globe and such a variegated audience in terms of athletes and guests. A party will side with the evening event, which will end with RONI Awarding ceremony and Interviews with the Champions. After the awarding, the guests will be invited to join FPA in an After Party event with DJ Set.

The 2023 FPA World Fencing Event in Singapore promises to be a unique and unforgettable experience for everyone involved, and the start of an unprecedented journey for FPA and the fencing community.

Founded in Italy in 2012, FPG srl was created to extend access to fencing for all by exponentially reducing the price of equipment. Subsequently, in 2018, it acquired Carmimari, the international brand inventor of the electric foil - the base signalling system used in modern fencing. In 2021, FPA was brought to life, the first event sports platform aiming at the professionalisation and improvement of the brand of Fencing to new audiences.
