The Outrigger Hospitality Group has announced its acquisition of the Zeavola Resort on Thailand’s Phi Phi Island.

The premier beachfront property on the northern tip of Phi Phi Island closed as of 1st May in order to undergo a full transformation and rebrand before opening as Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort on 1st October.

Announcing the acquisition, Outrigger Hospitality Group President and Chief Executive, Jeff Wagoner stated “the addition of a new Outrigger Resort on Phi Phi Island represents a landmark moment in our strategic growth across Asia Pacific.

“Thailand remains one of the world’s most beloved travel destinations and we are thrilled to bring our signature style of beachfront hospitality to this extraordinary location.

“With our established operational presence in Thailand, we’re well positioned to enhance the guest experience and further strengthen our roots in this vibrant, culturally rich market.”

The extensive renovation - spanning both accommodations and shared spaces - will, on completion, see the resort offer 63 suites and villas, in a ‘refined yet relaxed retreat’.

The latest addition becomes Outrigger’s fourth operating property in Thailand, joining resorts in Koh Samui, Khao Lak and Surin Beach and Phuket.

It marks a renewed expansion for Outrigger in Thailand, having previously operated four acclaimed resorts across the country.

In a statement the company advised “this renewed expansion highlights Outrigger’s enduring connection to the destination and its continued investment in curating unforgettable beach escapes throughout the Asia Pacific region.”

Remarking on the closure on social media, a spokesperson for the previous owners wrote “the last guests have checked out and with full hearts, Zeavola Resort is now closing its doors.

“After 20 unforgettable years of sun-kissed memories, we are filled with immense gratitude.

Thank you, to all our wonderful guests - especially our loyal returners - for filling Zeavola with laughter, love and life. You made our little paradise truly special.

“But this isn’t goodbye - it’s the beginning of something new. After a beautiful transformation, we’ll reopen as Outrigger Phi Phi Island Resort.

“We’re counting down the days to welcome you back to a vibrant, reimagined island escape.”
