WIFA celebrates International Women’s Day with global advocacy campaign for women in fitness
In celebration of International Women’s Day (Tuesday 8th March), WIFA and partners are launching a significant global advocacy campaign for women in fitness - #womenhelpingwomenww - to celebrate the women working in the fitness sector. WIFA (The Association for Women in Fitness and Wellness) exists for women to champion one another to create a diverse and inclusive future for the Industry.
WIFA has teamed up with partners all over the world to launch the #womenhelpingwomenww campaign on 8th March, 2022, including: Les Mills International, Matrix, Precision Nutrition, Sport Alliance, The American Council on Exercise, Trib3, Escape Fitness, BootCamp Challenge, Basic-Fit, Myzone, Miles Nadal JCC, Title Boxing Club, YMCA Dallas, Fitness Ambassadors, Movati Athletic, Fit Bodies, Struct Club, CleverFit, Urban Sports Clubs, Mindbody, Gympass and FLOE Fit.
Their 2022 International Women’s Day Partners are receiving six-month WIFA memberships to gift to the women in their companies’ networks and the opportunity to participate in their Gender Diversity Survey (in partnership with SportAlliance.)
While there are many global studies and statistics about women in the workforce, WIFA highlight the lack of “we don’t have many specifics to go on in the fitness industry”.
WIFA has partnered with SportAlliance to continue this discussion and get a global perspective on gender equity in the fitness sector. The SportAlliance survey on Gender Diversity is currently being distributed worldwide. The results will be presented in Cologne at the European Health and Fitness Forum on 6th April, 2022. WIFA’s intention is to build on this report and develop further programmes, training and initiatives that will help encourage more women into leadership positions in the fitness sector.
Lindsey Rainwater, Founder and Chief Executive WIFA notes “this will be our biggest International Women’s Day Campaign ever, and it’s made possible by the commitment of our partners worldwide. We will be reaching hundreds of thousands of women working in the fitness sector. Women helping women is what WIFA is all about, and when women rise, the world rises. Our mission and actions are behind those words every day, and we reaffirm them as we celebrate International Women’s Day.”
