Venue operator sought for Penang Convention Centre

The developer of the Penang Waterfront Convention & Exhibition Centre (PWCC) in Malaysia has commenced a search for an international venue operator able to undertake sales, marketing, operations, catering and facilities management.

Located of the eastern coastline of Penang, the venue, spanning 25,000 metre², will be a multi-purpose integrated venue featuring a 7,000 metre² exhibition hall and plenary seating options of 700, 1,200 and 4,500. The facility will also offer banqueting capacity for 4,000 people and a grand ballroom of 800 seats and there will also be a further 15 smaller meeting rooms, VIP lounges and other ancillary spaces.

The wider mixed development project has retail, dining and parking and will be connected to two on-site international standard hotels offering 745 rooms.

IJM Perennial Development expects the project to be completed by 2021.

The Penang State Government established the Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau in 2016 to intensify efforts to bring in more quality events and conventions to Penang.

Proposals submissions are open until 10th July.
