Surf Park Summit gets underway in San Diego

The 2022 Surf Park Summit, the world’s leading symposium and networking event dedicated exclusively to promote the development and growth of the surf park industry, has got underway in the USA city of San Diego in California.

The Summit event brings together top minds from around the world including surf park and surf pool developers, investors, operators and suppliers, as well as academics and world class champion athletes to discuss the future of surf and surf destinations beyond the ocean.

Commencing with a social event at Bird’s Surf Shed yesterday evening and running until Tuesday, the Summit is featuring sessions on the decision to make a surf park and real estate planning, with presentations from industry experts, including Fernando Odriozola of Wavegarden, Aaron Trevis of Surf Lakes and Doug Sheres of Beach Street Development.

The Summit is also featuring the 2022 Surf Park Awards which will recognise innovation in surfing progression, sustainability and democratising access to surf for more people

Summit organisers Surf Park Central point to the expansion of the surfing market, advising that “in 2018, the World Surf League estimated participation in the sport was growing globally at 30% a year” adding that the Summit features “experts in human-made wave creation will meet with big name surfing legends at this year’s event to discuss how to create successful surf parks and bring waves to new corners of the world.”

The Summit is being held at the Scripps Seaside Forum in San Diego, California, USA until 18th October.
