Strong Pilates opens first Singapore studio
June 5, 2023

The partnership between Australian founded Strong Pilates and Yoga Movement has seen the opening of the first of the brand's franchised sites in Singapore.

The first site in a plan to open 11 new STRONG Pilates studios across Singapore over the next three to four years, the opening in the republic follows Strong Pilates expansion into the UK.

Part resistance Pilates, part cardio, STRONG Pilates offers a full body workout in a high-intensity 45-minute class via the purpose built Rowformer and Bikeformer.

Founded in 2019 by former F45 multi-site franchises Michael Ramsey and Mark Armstrong, the brand is looking to make the most of growing interest in Pilates.

Its Singapore partnership with Yoga Movement, one of the largest boutique fitness operators in South East Asia, is anticipated to help the brand grwo quickly in the Singapore market.

Speaking to Tatler Asia, Alicia Pan, co-founder of Yoga Movement and now Director of Strong Pilates Singapore, explained how the creation of Yoga Movement more than a decade ago came from there being little to no accessibility in the yoga scene in Singapore.

Having used Yoga Movement, as she says, as a “platform to open the doors to the people who would normally not set foot in the practice of yoga due to all things surrounding it, by focusing on the physical aspect of it”, Pan noted "the current climate is a whole different ball game as opposed to when we entered the market with Yoga Movement 11 years ago … for us, we were clear on an objective - and that was to seal the gap for what was lacking in the already saturated industry.

"For Yoga Movement, it was fitness-focused yoga."
