South Korean RCI distributors set to open two Sky Trail attractions

South Korean RCI distributors set to open two Sky Trail attractions
January 30, 2020

Efforts by RCI Adventure Products global partners, Climb Korea Co., Ltd. and Zipline Korea, Inc. will see two Sky Trail® aerial attractions in South Korea open to the general public in April 2020.

The family-friendly attractions were recently installed within Mt. Yonghwa Recreational Forest which is located inside the city of Chuncheon and at Alpensia Resort in Pyeongchang respectively. Both installations are the first for each location and subsequently build upon RCI’s presence in South Korea as a whole.

Featuring a beautiful landscape, Mt. Yonghwa Recreational Forest serves as the perfect getaway for nature enthusiasts, school groups and those looking to reconnect with their surroundings on an expansive piece of land. Nestled within the forest itself, the Complex Experience Centre offers a space in which visitors are able to enjoy a collection of climbing walls, a zip coaster and soon a Sky Trail complete with its very own Sky Rail®. The seven pole, two-level indoor attraction will feature 21 interactive elements like the 'Bumpy Rope Walk' and 'Swinging Steps' as well as pay homage to the forest with a more toned-down, natural color scheme.

Climb Korea Head of International Business, Daysik Woo advised “the Sky Trail is an attraction that exhibits precise safety and design which is new to Korea. Throughout the entire process, Dan Mooney, RCI Director of International Sales, has been very supportive and we look forward to collaborating on additional projects in the future.”

Located in Pyeongchang, approximately 80 killometres from the city of Chuncheon, Alpensia Resort provides a year-round experience for travelers that includes hotel accommodations, golf courses, a cinema and featured in the 2018 Winter Olympics, a spatial ski resort. Come April, those visiting the popular destination will be able to have fun on a Sky Trail and watch skiers display their skills as the attraction will not be far from the skiing area. The five pole, two-level Sky Trail will extend a total of 5.8metres upwards and showcase a variety of elements such as the 'Suspension Bridge' and 'Angled Vertical Rope Ladder'.

Jeff Jung, President and Chief Executive of Zipline Korea, Inc. noted “Alpensia Resort is very large with a wide range of attractions available. The Sky Trail will be a great addition for groups, especially the student groups who usually visit the area from spring to fall.

“Many people in South Korea are looking for indoor play areas and I think there will be a steady demand for RCI products in the future.”

RCI has sold thousands of innovative adventure products worldwide since it was established in 1989 and continues to be committed to providing thrills to participants of all ages and abilities through its extensive product lines of Sky Trail aerial attractions, Clip ‘n Climb® climbing activities, netplay and more.

Aside from the installations inside of Mt. Yonghwa Recreational Forest and Alpensia Resort, 2019 saw a fair amount of international expansion for RCI. For instance, two Playdium entertainment centers in Canada had Sky Trail attractions integrated into their facilities and several cruise ships, like the Carnival Sunrise ship and the MSC Grandiosa ship, set sail with the RCI products onboard. Additional cruise installations are planned for both Carnival and MSC but details cannot be disclosed at this time.

Jon Weston, Chief Sales Officer for RCI added “RCI has a number of global projects in the pipeline for 2020 and beyond. We thoroughly enjoy working with both Climb Korea and Zipline Korea and can’t wait to see all that not only they, but all of our distributors, accomplish in the new year.”
