South Korean Lotte World to collaborate with Nexon on new themed area
February 21, 2025

South Korean theme park - Lotte World – located in Jamsil, Seoul, will be collaborating with video game company Nexon to open a new segment of the park themed around the online game MapleStory.

Nexon is a South Korean video game developer and publisher. It develops and publishes titles including MapleStory, Crazyracing Kartrider, Sudden Attack, Dungeon & Fighter, and Blue Archive. Headquartered in Japan, the company has offices in South Korea, the United States, Taiwan, and Thailand.

The attraction, set to open in the first half of 2026, will be the park's first collaboration with external intellectual property for a dedicated theme zone. Previously, the two partnered on a smaller scale, introducing attractions such as World KartRacing (2021) and KartRider Racing World (2022), both based on Nexon's KartRider: Drift IP.

According to Lotte World, Maple Island will feature souvenir shops, food and beverage outlets and photo zones, all inspired by the three universes of the MapleStory game. The new zone will span 1,980 square meters. The addition of Maple Island will also bring three new attractions to the park, including a rollercoaster and two child-friendly rides.

Ohsang Kwon Chief Executive of the theme park shared "Lotte World has striven to be a place where imagination becomes reality through collaborations with webtoon, games and animations. We promise a new exciting offline experience through this upcoming collaboration with Nexon."
