Red Raion partners with Leisure Expert Group to create immersive attraction for AIDA cruise ship
September 14, 2022

Red Raion, the CGI studio specialised in media-based attractions, and Leisure Expert Group, who focuses on the design and production of spaces and identities in the leisure, festival and event industry, have partnered for the creation of the latest ‘time travel experience’ inside the AIDA cruise ship by Carnival Cruises.

‘2125 - An Adventurous Journey Through Time And Space’ is the name of the newest attraction that Carnival Cruise Line, the world's largest travel leisure company, is offering to the passengers of their AIDA cruise ship.

AIDA Cruises sail to Africa, the Caribbean, European river cruises, the Mediterranean, Middle East, Scandinavia & Northern Europe, South America, and Southeast Asia and provides a unique cruising experience not found on some of the larger, more mainstream cruise lines.

This ‘time machine restaurant’ is designed to take the ship’s guests on an immersive journey across different times and places while they’re comfortably sitting for dinner, through an ingenious combination of CGI content and a live performance by real actors.

Valeria Rizzo, Business Development Director at Red Raion advises “we’re particularly proud of the outcome of this collaboration. Our work for ‘2125 - An Adventurous Journey Through Time And Space’ focused on the creation of CGI content to create a ‘time travel experience’ that could come to life during dinner on the ship. The entire stage representation was designed by Leisure Expert Group, with actors engaged in a live-performance, with which we had to synchronise to create the whole experience, following a specific timing that could not be changed.

“Synchronization, technical on-site trials and installation, these were all fundamental steps in the process to create this experience as we imagined it, and everyone involved put a massive effort into this experience, especially considering that we all worked during the worst times of the pandemic. We could not be happier about the final result.”

Marjolein van de Stolpe, Chief Executive Leisure Expert Group added “we’ve been collaborating with Red Raion concerning the custom made video content for this large and complex project. We’ve experienced Red Raion to be a pleasant and reliable partner in our team. Listening well to feedback, displaying a great amount of flexibility, respecting deadlines and a good and open communication about any issues that arise makes us feel very comfortable working with them. It’s been a very ambitious project and we’re very satisfied with how this attraction turned out.”

Red Raion is currently sharing a preview of their work on this attraction at this year’s IAAPA Expo Europe from 13th-15th September at ExCeL London. Schedule an appointment with them via this link and find the slot that best suits you.
