Plus Fitness opens 200th club
October 14, 2021

Australian owned and founded gym franchise Plus Fitness has today opened its 200th club - just 10 years after it commenced operations.

Welcoming the opening of Plus Fitness Ryde, Plus Fitness Director, Gordon Martin stated “Plus Fitness Ryde is the 200th Plus Fitness franchise to open internationally.

“We’re excited to expand the network of health clubs, with a strong pipeline of Plus Fitness franchises to open in near future.”

The Plus Fitness 24/7 model first stepped into franchising in 2011 and, over the course of a decade, has expanded across Australia, New Zealand, India and East Timor.

Over the years Plus Fitness has received multiple awards including Emerging Franchisor of the Year in 2013, appearing twice in the BRW Fast Starters and twice ranking 1st in the Smart Company fastest growing Australian company awards.

With the Plus Fitness 24/7 franchise chain having experienced consistent and steady growth over the past decade, in 2020 the business was acquired by ASX listed Viva Leisure Limited.

With Viva Leisure Limited already operating brands such as Club Lime and Hiit Republic, this launched them into becoming the third largest fitness operator in Australia.

The Plus Fitness 24/7 Franchise Model offers its franchises extensive support from a dedicated team of support personnel at its Head Office located in Sydney. The model is turnkey by design and provides franchisees with a consistent and regular income in a low staff, fast paced environment.

The latest addition to the growing brand is Plus Fitness Ryde which has opened today! This elevates the brand to reaching 200 clubs now open and with a further 45 territories already sold and at various stages of opening, there are no signs of this fitness franchising juggernaut slowing down.

The Plus Fitness network consists of 200 gyms open and more scheduled to open across Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Viva Leisure accelerates growth
Parent company Viva Leisure has this week advised of a series of new locations by way of acquisition with the purchase of a Queensland based franchised Pilates and yoga franchise business.

An announcement to the ASX advised “since the end of August bi-monthly update released to the market on 6 October 2021, Viva Leisure confirms the opening of a new site in Castle Hill, NSW and that it has completed the acquisitions of two Plus Fitness sites in Beerwah, QLD and Rydalmere, NSW, as well as an independent club in South Morang, Victoria.”
