Ocean Park Hong Kong opens up expanded spaces for Panda stimulation

Giant panda twin cubs will be venturing into their expanded activity space with their mother Ying Ying in their habitat at Hong Kong’s Ocean Park Giant Panda Adventure, commencing 27th May 2025.

Ocean Park is opening up both the midland habitat and the alpine zone near the attraction entrance for the pandas with the expanded space offering the cubs a more complex and stimulating environment to explore, conquer taller trees, and navigate a more diverse landscape – all under the watchful eyes of Ying Ying and the dedicated panda caretakers.

Howard Chuk, Head of Zoological Operations and Conservation at Ocean Park Corporation notes “this enhancement is about so much more than just extra space. As these playful cubs grow stronger and more adventurous, the extended habitat space will support their boundless energy and curiosity, and help them challenge themselves and hone their essential life skills further.

“We are introducing an enriched environment with taller trees and a more complex landscape to stimulate and challenge the cubs. The midland habitat will now serve as their dedicated playroom, where their caretakers will set up a wider variety of enrichment items to offer the cubs more physical, sensory and cognitive stimulations while Ying Ying enjoys her ‘me time’ and mummy’s break. We hope that the new measures tailored to the growth of Elder Sister and Little Brother will allow the public to witness the growth journey of Ying Ying and her cubs more vividly.”

To further enhance the overall panda viewing experience, visitors can enter the queue-line and wait for admission to Giant Panda Adventure, without having to collect a timed entry ticket in advance, starting 27th May.
