Miral reveals expansion of Yas Waterworld Abu Dhabi more than 50% complete
October 15, 2024

Miral, the Abu Dhabi developer of immersive destinations, has reported that the expansion of the Yas Waterworld waterpark has gone beyond being half way complete with 55% of the project finished.

Due to debut in 2025, the 16,900-square-metre expansion includes 18 new thrilling rides and attractions, and 3.3 kilometres of slide sections.

Among these are the UAE’s highest slide and the first water-based amusement ride integrated into a waterslide complex. This features a 15-metre drop.

Other highlights in the development include a swim-up bar, a boat ride, racing and tube slides, family raft rides, and a duelling master blaster. Also, Miral will create smaller versions of the park’s most iconic rides for younger visitors.

Additionally, the expansion includes eight new pools and new F&B outlets. When the project is complete, the water park will offer more than 70 rides and experiences.

Advising that the expansion is the most significant since the waterpark opened in 2013, Miral Chief Portfolio Officer, Jonathan Brown stated “this expansion, building on Yas Waterworld’s popularity with both local and international visitors over the past decade, reaffirms our commitment to constantly elevating Yas Island’s position as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure.

“We are thrilled to be providing our guests from around the world an enriched and exciting new experience.”

Key construction milestones at Yas Waterworld include more than 67% of the concrete being poured, and 25% of the steel columns installed.

Speaking last year, Miral Chief Executive, Mohamed Abdalla Al Zaabi advised “this expansion marks another addition to our world-class attractions and experiences on Yas Island, and a testament to achieving our vision of positioning it as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure.

“We are proud to be contributing to the development of Abu Dhabi’s ecosystem and economic diversification, while further enhancing its global appeal as a tourism hub.”
