INTIX develops world-first contact tracing technology for events

INTIX develops world-first contact tracing technology for events
May 19, 2020

To support customers being able to return to running events sooner, Australian ticketing and technology company INTIX, has developed a world-first contact tracing add-on for its ticketing platform.

Social distancing and lockdown restrictions caused by the COVID19 virus has had a detrimental impact on the events industry.

INTIX Chief Executive, Alan Grant has advised the ticketing add-on will allow event organisers to assist the Government with COVID19 contact tracing by proving the details of attendees if required.

Grant noted “we developed this add-on in the hopes that by assisting the Government with contact tracing we may be able to cautiously help our customers open their doors and get events and gigs back up and running.”

INTIX has been following government protocols very closely on the return of events and the requirements that may be imposed on event organisers with Gran highlighting that “it’s clear that mass gatherings will not go ahead without some way to track who’s turning up in case they are later diagnosed with COVID19.”

The idea stems from the Government’s COVIDSafe App which is intended to speed up contacting people exposed to Coronavirus however as Grant understands not everyone has downloaded the Government App and as Grant explains “this ticketing add-on we have developed should assist the Government to reach more people.”

The add-on works by adding contact tracing to ticket purchases for events and the INTIX ‘at-event’ app will allow event organisers to trace the steps of anyone who tests COVID19 positive. Grant advised that privacy will be strictly upheld.

“Event goers will need to agree to this use of their data and it will only be provided to the Government if required and in compliance with Federal privacy laws.

“We are excited to launch this initiative and look forward to seeing the event industry back up and running.”
