Global Wellness Institute launches new campaign and collaborations

Global Wellness Institute launches new campaign and collaborations
March 27, 2020

The Global Wellness Institute (GWI) has launched both its PositivelyWell campaign and its Global Wellness Collaborations to help members and leaders during COVID-19 crisis. The PositivelyWell campaign aims to encourage members of the industry and people around the world to replace fear with a focus on wellness while the Global Wellness Collaborations are interactive forums allowing wellness business leaders from all over the world to honestly share what’s happening on the ground.

GWI advise that during Coronavirus (COVID-19), it's all too easy (and understandable) to slip into fears about the unknown and concerns about the suffering a global health crisis could cause. As such, the Global Wellness Institute (GWI) has launched its PositivelyWell campaign to encourage members of the industry and people around the world to replace fear with a focus on wellness.

On the PositivelyWell pages, wellness consumers and professionals will find optimistic articles on how being positive can lead to better health outcomes, as well as trusted resources on guidance about COVID-19 and a link to a new section on GWI’s wellness evidence page providing medical evidence and studies on how an optimistic outlook is strongly associated with better health outcomes, including positive effects on the immune system and longevity.

While recognising the extreme seriousness of the pandemic, the GWI believes “that this is an important moment to reinforce the self-care/prevention message that is our mission, and to encourage a focus on building a strong immune system through exercise, healthy nutrition, stress reduction, smoking cessation and more.”

Global Wellness Collaborations

To keep executives in different wellness sectors connected and sharing new strategies during the fast-moving coronavirus epidemic, the Global Wellness Summit has launched Global Wellness Collaborations. Held via Zoom, these interactive forums allow wellness business leaders from all over the world to honestly share what’s happening on the ground – and to exchange ideas for coping in these uncertain times. It’s a virtual extension of the GWS’ mission: “Joining Together. Shaping the Future.”

GWI advise that “calls are limited to 40 people, and, on average, people from ten different nations have been on each call. Chatham House Rule applies, so these are ‘off the record’ conversations ensuring executives feel comfortable sharing information and everyone can come away with honest insights on how to better weather this crisis.

Last week the GWS held four very successful ‘conversations’: two for the spa and hospitality markets and two for the fitness and mind-body sector. This week, GWS is gathering leaders to discuss Workplace Wellness and the Thermal/Mineral Springs market. Next week, will include Mental Wellness and Wellness Real Estate & Communities. Future conversations are planned for Wellness Tourism, Beauty and Retail.

GWS Chairman and Chief Executive, Susie Ellis who co-moderates the sessions noted “so many eye-opening, actionable ideas to help wellness businesses have come out of last week’s conversations. One key value is that when you have executives from many countries in dialogue, you get powerful insight from businesses who have weathered other crises (such as in Hong Kong) - or those who are weeks and months ahead of what the rest of the world is now experiencing.”
