The incident saw thick black smoke was seen rising above the attraction and the adjacent Ferrari World and Yas Marina Circuit, with Abu Dhabi Police sealing off routes around the area, with traffic on Yas Bay redirected to allow emergency responders access to the scene.

"The fire did not result in any injuries and has been successfully extinguished."

Miral, the waterpark's developer, is currently undertaking a 1.8 hectare expansion to the attraction which will offer 18 new rides and attractions including the region’s highest waterslide.
