FIBO 2023 trade show includes closer dovetailing of health with fitness and wellness sectors

FIBO 2023 trade show includes closer dovetailing of health with fitness and wellness sectors
January 27, 2023

FIBO realises the potential that health along with the fitness and wellness sectors hold and is bringing them together at this year’s trade show taking place in Cologne, Germany from 13th-16th April.

FIBO acknowledge that the fitness and wellness sectors are becoming increasingly intertwined with people now exploring these topics more intensely in order to actively improve their health.

People who have already made exercise and fitness an integral part of their daily routines, no longer want to do without them on holiday and business trips either. So, hoteliers, spa managers and fitness managers are called upon to provide these services in the form of attractive exercise offerings for their guests.

At the same time, the fitness world has long acknowledged that regenerative phases are also part and parcel of a balanced training. Supporting this development are wellness offerings that go beyond mere passive treatments now extending to mental health and mindset, balanced nutrition as well as sufficient exercise and sleep. For gyms it is therefore more and more important to also include these wellness options in their ranges.

Anke Brendt, Product Manager FIBO notes “this year, we will feature our holistic understanding of health at FIBO even more prominently. This inevitably includes the closer dovetailing of health with the two mega sectors fitness and wellness. We want to give a new home to the latter and are very pleased to further expand the Spa and Wellness segment jointly with strong partners.”

To this end, the sector will be given a dedicated Meeting Point Spa & Wellness in Hall 8. In the immediate vicinity of the thematic exhibition area FIBO has planned a subject-specific supporting programme as well as a networking area. Awaiting visitors there will be expert talks featuring Dr. Ingo Froböse and Dr. Franz Linser as well as other renowned speakers – alongside lively discussions and live demos.

“The understanding of wellness currently develops from purely passive relaxation towards an active transformation of one’s own self. This bridges the gap between the wellness sector and the fitness sector. Both sectors can learn a lot from, inspire and complement each other. At present, the wellness market has no cross-sector ‘trade show home’ – and this is what we want to change with FIBO this year,” delights Lutz Hertel, General Manager of the ‘Deutscher Wellness Verband’, and adds “at the new Meeting Point we will bring all industry leaders together.”

In line with this motto, FIBO will dedicate complete focus days to two markets. On Thursday, hospitality will kick off. As part of lectures, talks and panel discussions the industry’s decision-makers can address challenges and opportunities. Many of the concepts presented here can be used as best practice for your own business or serve as a fresh source of ideas.

The programme is rounded off by the focus day for spa managers on Sunday. Glamour will be added by the presentation of the international “Spa Manager Award” by the Deutscher Wellness Verband. For the first time since 2018, the best spa managers will be honoured in the three categories Day Spa, Hotel Spa and Resort Spa live at FIBO.

Another highlight on the trade show agenda is the “SpaCamp Session” on Sunday. The open event concept of a camp has already become established in the wellness market: participants determine the topics themselves and develop creative solutions jointly with the group. Wolfgang Falkner will give FIBO visitors the chance to benefit from a SpaCamp for the first time and to tap into the exclusive shared experience this offers. Registration for this industry event opens on 31st January.

The Body & Mind Area offers an additional education offer for spa managers, fitness managers, hotel managers and directors. Here, theory and practice are closely intertwined and trade visitor will receive fresh impulses for Pilates, yoga and active programmes for their own businesses. Sven Huckenbeck, winner of multiple international spa awards such as the ‘Wellness Aphrodite’ in the category Spa Personality, will provide insights into his unique bio-balance concept. At the Body & Mind Area, the therapist and professional sportsman describes how “Neuro Reset Training” helps to incorporate “muscle hygiene” into your daily routine.  Nutritionist, yoga teacher and author Petra Orzech will impressively demonstrate how yoga can support women in developing their inner poise and identity especially during menopause.

High-calibre programme from high-calibre partners

FIBO has other leading industry experts such as DEHOGA, Top Hotel, “Die 101 Besten – Future Hospitality Days”, ahgz and the German Hotel Academy at its side to convey to trade visitors the potential of combining fitness and wellness together. The exhibitors Gharieni and KLAFs as well as devine wellness & spa international and Starpool as key spa players have already signed up to FIBO’S vision and will be showcasing their solutions and products over all four trade fair days. Cold therapy applications in the form of CRYO are also a must have here. The exhibits displayed by suppliers will range from treatment beds and sauna towels plus oils to fittings and furnishing inspirations.

To perfectly customise the experience for its target groups, FIBO will organise guided tours specifically compiled for spa and wellness experts as well as hotel operators on all trade show days. This is precisely where the “Die 101 Besten” will come into play for the leading trade show. As part of their Future Hospitality Days they offer interested participants an exclusive excursion to FIBO. In addition to transfer and catering, participants will be treated to an exclusive guided tour specifically geared to hospitality needs, highlighting the latest trends and solutions for healthy and sustainable fitness offerings.

The next FIBO Show will take place in Cologne from 13-16 April, 2023.
