FIBO 2021 adopts holistic approach to health and wellness
March 31, 2021

The organisers of Germany's FIBO, the international fitness and wellness trade show, have advised that the event running from 4th to 7th November 2021 will address key topics in the health and wellness industries – such as Digital Health, Health at Work and Hygiene.

FIBO will be held in a hybrid format, that means its broad ranges will be available to visitors from all over the world both on site and digitally. A strong focus of the trade show will be on the future of the fitness sector and individual solutions to cope with the COVID crisis.

Silke Frank, Event Director at FIBO notes “Fitness also makes an indispensable contribution to public health from the medical perspective. Together with our partners we will be giving concrete answers to how not only fitness clubs and coaches but the industry as a whole – including physiotherapists and the wellness sector – can ensure commercial success long term after the COVID crisis.”

Focus Days: Digitalisation, Corporate Health Management and Sports Medicine

The central point of contact for physiotherapists, therapists, club operators and trainers is the Meeting Point Health & Wellness in Hall 4.2. Through information on trend themes as well as continuous education courses focusing on physiotherapy, participants will gain new knowledge they can use for winning over and retaining members and customers. But ways to successfully integrate new training and therapy concepts into their concepts will also feature on the agenda.

Here visitors are in for Focus Days on the most important topics in physiotherapy and the health industry. The first trade show day on Thursday will be all about the challenges and opportunities associated with digitalisation and Corporate Health Management as the important topic for the future. The latter has gained even further momentum due to the pandemic. Centre stage at FIBO will be the question of what health programs of the future might look like, also against the backdrop of rising numbers of people working from home. In addition, information will be provided on trends in the fields of nutrition, Digital Health, Mental Health, Medical Fitness as services for integrating into one’s own ranges and (re-)connecting with members or customers. On top of this, continuous education will be offered in the areas of therapy and digitalisation.

On Friday FIBO will focus on the themes of sports medicine and sports physiotherapy. Here the agenda will include an expert panel of DGSP on ‘Exercise is Medicine’ involving the experts university professor Dr. Wilhelm Bloch, Prof. Dr. med. Dr. h.c. J.M. Steinacker and university professor Dr. med. Bernd Wolfarth as well as lectures by speakers from the sportärztezeitung magazine, and much more besides.

Addressing the focal themes of Fitness & Wellness, FIBO on Sunday will reach out to end users because this target group is also looking for inspiration and information for a healthy lifestyle.

Holistic Approach to Health

For The Wellness and Spa area, FIBO will cooperate with SpaCamp for the first time with a view to addressing new target groups and dovetailing the areas of wellness and health even more closely. The expert event SpaCamp has been a pioneering, independent think tank providing impulses for themes like spa, wellness and health since 2010.

In addition, contacts from the German Wellness Association will be available for one-on-one wellness and spa consulting. 7th November will also see the winners of the Wellness & Spa Innovation Awards 2021 presented here.

Strong Partners from the Industry

Many partners from the areas of health, fitness, wellness and hospitality will participate at this year’s FIBO such as the German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention, Georg Thieme publishing house, Federal Association of Corporate Health Management, the Prävention & Gesundheit publishing house, the German Wellness Association and the Professional Association of Yoga Teachers. All of these partners will contribute with their expertise to advancing the industry after COVID and reaching out to new target groups.

In cooperation with DFAV, Friday 5th November will see FIBO organise the ‘From Subscription to Prescription – The Path to Systemic Importance’, which was developed and organised by FIBO founder Volker Ebener. It will primarily revolve around all the services that can give fitness clubs systemic importance. First and foremost, these include the services rendered by physiotherapists on a medical prescription as well as all the services rendered by laypeople in the areas of rehabilitation and prevention that are reimbursed by sickness funds. These ways to be successful will be presented at this symposium.

In Halls 1, 4.2 and 5.2 numerous exhibitors will showcase innovations, concepts and best practices for the wellness and health markets. Organised guided tours through the exhibition halls will help visitors find exactly what they are looking for. For instance, Guided Tours will focus on specific themes such as physiotherapy and hospitality.

Expert lectures delivered by the most successful exhibitors and renowned partners in the Fitness & Health Corner in Hall 4.2 will round off the program for the health sector and complement exhibitors’ ranges.

Sports Medicine Congress on FIBO Sunday

The Sports Medicine Congress will target sports physicians and physiotherapists. Under the motto “When therapy becomes training” this congress will deal with the opportunities and potential of combined sports-medical applications. This day offers innovative and practice-driven content about applied sports medicine, featuring experienced physicians and therapists from competitive sports.

In November FIBO and Europe’s leading conference for fitness technology, the FitTech Summit, will continue building their partnerships and in doing so pick up on various themes of the future. This encompasses the synergies between holistic health and fitness. Discussions will also address the question of how technologies can unburden our future health systems.
