The Event Management Association of Sri Lanka (EMA) has signed a landmark bilateral Memorandum of Understanding with Event and Entertainment Management Association (EEMA) India which will significantly strengthen the position of the industry both regionally and locally. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Vidura Wickramanayake, Sri Lanka’s Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, who also attended the ceremony.

Commenting on the signed MoU, Nishan Wasalathanthri, President, EMA Sri Lanka noted “This is a landmark agreement for both parties. Our teams of eminent professionals possess extensive industry experience and is poised to help establish standards and further develop the industry. We’re excited to sign this MoU and also strengthen the position of our industry both locally and regionally.”

Key points of this landmark bilateral agreement included:

  • mutual cooperation and training in all aspects of event management and production, standardisation and compliance within the industry,
  • generation of much-needed foreign exchange for its members and vice versa the country,
  • business leads which will be channelled via the joint associations so that all members will benefit by working together to a high and exacting standard,
  • raising the levels of entertainment and artists for both countries via a talent exchange,
  • cross-marketing both associations so that a gold industry standard is established within the business sphere,
  • allowing EMA members to be the go-to businesses for corporates who want and expect exceptional event production standards.

The Event Management Association of Sri Lanka in the future looks to be a fully ratified and government-endorsed association bringing it in line with and under the protection and benefits of such ratifications.
