Abu Dhabi‘s Yas Island - home to attractions including Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, Warner Bros. World and Yas Waterworld - has launched a new tourism campaign, naming Aquaman and Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa as its new ‘Chief Island Officer’.

Replacing comedian and actor Kevin Hart, who left the role earlier this year, Momoa has been promoted as taking up his role in a video showing him making an entrance to the Island on a paddle board.

In the video, Momoa sates “when you discover your calling, when you realise your destiny, and you know your whole life has led to this one ridiculously awesome job.

“They made me chief island officer of Yas Island Abu Dhabi, so now I’m making sure everyone here lives it up like me.”

Commenting on the promotion of Yas Island’s leisure and entertainment experiences, Miral Destinations Chief Executive, Liam Findlay explains “we received resounding feedback following Kevin’s Hart farewell campaign, and we are excited to deliver yet another successful storyline for fans to follow.

“As Yas Island Abu Dhabi continues to entertain guests with best-in-class experiences and with offerings that resonate with visitors from all over the world, we look forward to raising the bar even higher in the days to come with Jason Momoa as the island’s newest officer.”

Among new developments heading to Yas Island, SeaWorld Abu Dhabi - SeaWorld Entertainment’s first park outside of the USA - which will include animal encounters, rides, entertainment and retail and dining experiences, will open on 23rd May, while Miral has also announced a new Harry Potter-themed land at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, a first in the Middle East.
